What is Fentanyl?
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid - 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine. Originally made to treat severe pain in medical settings, it's now being illegally manufactured and sold on the streets. It's cheap, addictive, and often deadly in even small doses.

1 grain of salt. That's all it takes to kill.
You can't smell it. You can't see it. You can't taste it. But it's taking lives in our community every single day.
What is Xylazine ("Tranq")?
Xylazine is a veterinary sedative - not meant for humans - but dealers are now mixing it with fentanyl and other street drugs to stretch their supply. It's known as "Tranq", and it doesn't respond to Narcan.

People using Tranq-laced drugs may experience:
-
Unconsciousness or blackouts
-
Severe skin wounds
-
Respiratory failure
-
Extreme sedation

Tranq is NOT an opioid, so Narcan may not work - but Narcan should still always be used if an overdose is suspected. Time matters.
Fentanyl in Weed? Here's What You Need to Know.
You've probably heard the rumors - and yes, it's happening.

Dealers are lacing marijuana with fentanyl and xylazine, often without telling the buyer. Some are doing it intentionally to get people hooked. Others are doing it accidentally by using the same equipment to handle harder drugs.

If you didn't grow it or buy it from a regulated dispensary, you can't be sure it's safe. Weed isn't what it used to be.
How Do You Know If It's Laced?
You don't.
That's the scariest part.

You can't see it. You can't smell it. You can't feel it until it's too late. And by then, someone may have
overdosed - possibly fatally.

What can you do instead?
-
Test your supply using fentanyl test strips
-
Never use alone
-
Keep Narcan on hand
-
Better yet: don't take the risk at all

The strongest thing you can do is protect yourself and the people you love.
